Batman's utility pouch, first seen as a series of gold pouches, has come along way since 1939. But let's just take a look at the belt between 1966 and now.
The
look of the utility belt has definitely changed over the years but what
else is different? Adam West's Batman was supposed to be corny, and so
was his gadgets. Some of the cornier gadgets included sleep spray,
Batawake spray, and (not pictured above) Shark Repellent Bat Spray from
the movie. The gadgets have become more and more high tech and intense
since 1966, curtesy of Lucius Fox. Batman dropped the sleep spray and
picked up the grapple gun, taser gun, plasma torch, Bat laser, and Bat
bomb. Was Batman becoming more violent, or were writers and directors
trying to creatively keep up with the quickly advancing technology in
the world? Truth is, as an unwritten rule between Batman writters,
Batman's gadgets are not lethal.
